Chiang Rai

This was our first stop in Thailand and we dove in right away! We quickly learned that “spicy” means “on fire” and that renting a moto is the best way to get to know a place. We discovered hidden treasures throughout the city and loved the small town feel.

Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai became home for over a week as we explored national parks, hidden wats, and spent 2 days at a silent meditation retreat learning that we should treat all living beings with love & kindness and that everything is just temporary.

For such a lively city, we should have expected that we’d have a full social calendar here. We were lucky to meet up with many friends here – some residents and some fellow travelers.

We made it to the islands of Thailand and were so thrilled with our first stop! We upgraded ourselves to a $50/night hotel and acted like tourists going to fancy cafes & booking boat tours around the area. What a beautiful place to go for a swim and have a cocktail.

We planted ourselves in a spot where we could easily get on a longtail boat and check out other islands. And that is exactly what we did! We were thrilled to find a private island with white sand & clear water where we spent two days in a hammock soaking up the rays.
